Sheryl A Kozens-Long Joseph Medeiros was the developer of Beagle Lane.... The son of Jesse Medeiros who's farm land it was originally... Joe and his brother in law Gilbert Costa, and a close Family friend Francis Barrett were beagle breeders and field trial handlers as well as hunters, the original plan was to build the street around the Family concept and have the ability to have kennels and dogs to run and train beagles... So it became a reality... It became beagle lane.., later the three of them became part of the founding fathers of the "beagle club" in east falmouth... The story .., Jesse Medeiros was my great grandfather .., Joe was my uncle ... Gilbert was my grandfather.. We have been there since 1785.., but I'm just ignorant! ************************************************************************************* Matthew Harlow Before the operators worked out of the building across from the Fire Station they worked out of the Building that houses Eight Cousins Bookstore. YUM! *********************************************************************************** on Dugan-Henriksen My family called this "Buck's" because our down street neighbor Bill Buck ran it at one time. I remember the McTiernan's running it later on. At Halloween they gave out full size Hershey bars if we went to their house..which of course we always did. I guess the last ones to own this before it burned were Rick Lemoine and his partner Brian (can't recall his last name). I also recall that Mrs. Kenyon kept camps out back that she rented in the summer, and there was also a big barn on the property. about a minute ago via mo **************************************************************************************************** Matthew Harlow Bennie switched to Getty later... It was in the 50s the bar was there and as a young kid I remember it to be a scary place. I think Cabrals gas station was next to it. I grew up as a kid running around in there everyday, reading books in the hay bales, and helping out in the pet shop everyday, and my mom also worked there. I was a little kid. My dad was on the fire dept and when we heard the calls go out for it that night....my parents looked so scared, it was the worst feeling ever. When i went down there to see it burn when he went to the call, i was all of like....8 years old. The boston news had this long shot of me sobbing on the train tracks in my puffy white coat all covered in ash. My name is disguised on FB b/c my husband is military, but my family has never been the same since. It was a terrible day for all of us....and for many years forward.
